Visual Artist & Cultural Worker | * 1987 in Upper Austria.
Lives and works in Salzburg, Vienna & Paris.
Kapsamer‘s work focuses on the research on unoccupied territories – physical and imaginary – as social, conceptual and poetic spaces of intervention. Her themes pivot around different forms of getting past, thresholds, dreamscapes, utopia, the interpersonal, vacancy, and the interface between public and private space. She seeks places and stories, strolls, documents and writes, and synthesizes her observations into site-specific installations, photographs, artist books as archives and transmedia productions.
Selected as artist in residence by the Federal State of Salzburg at Cité internationale des arts in Paris she has been working on public space, collective imaginary and archives of individual narratives, in collaboration with her colleague Caroline Bourrit from Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Kapsamer studied Sculpture and Graphic Design at the University Mozarteum Salzburg, Visual Arts at the Institut Supérieur des Beaux-Arts de Besançon, France, and English and American Studies at the University of Salzburg and Agnes Scott College, Atlanta, GA, USA. She holds an MA from the University of Salzburg and a fellowship with the Salzburg Global Seminar‘s Forum of Young Cultural Innovators.
